Type Locality and Naming
Along the Alay ridge. G.S. Porshnyakov in 1964 (354, p.39). Previously described by N.M. Sinitsyn in sections of carbonate "sedimentary troughs." M. more than 2000m (165; 443).
Synonym: Alay Series, Алайская сер., Alai Series
Lithology and Thickness
Combines the Arpalyk, Boordin, Adyrakou, Nazarin, and Karadavan formations.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the next formation as Karadavan Fm
Upper contact
It lies in a continuous section or transgressively on the Peshkaut Fm
Regional extent
North foothills of the Alay ridge.
